TICKETS - World Cup 2010

The 2010 Fifa World Cup kick-off on 11 June 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa is still counting days down, but for soccer fans around the world, another important date has arrived as tickets for the event are now on sale to the general public. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup.
There are two types of ticket products available for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa:

  • Match Tickets: These are individual match tickets   and are available for all matches (1 - 64).
  • Team Specific Ticket Series (TST): These are ticket    strips to follow the national team of your choice.

Ticket prices and categories for the 2010 FIFA world cup matches taking place in South Africa have been approved and are on sale with a special category for South Africans ranging in price from R136,00 to 6000,00. According to Fifa.com, the prices and categories were approved by a committee under the chairmanship of Fifa vice president Issa Hayatou, and reflect Fifa's positioning of the World Cup as a premium international sporting event while also taking into account the South African market.

Tickets are available in four categories, with prices that vary accordingly. Category 4 tickets are reserved exclusively for South African residents, and were priced the lowest to enable citizens of the host country who would not normally be able to afford World Cup tickets to see the games. Fans have the choice of match-specific tickets for the 64 games to be played in the tournament, as well as team-specific ticket series that allow them to follow the country of their choice. These range from three-game ticket series (for three games involving the same country) to seven-game ticket series.

The tickets will given to people involved in social development in the country as a reward for their efforts. Some 40 000 tickets have been allocated to construction workers who are building stadiums to be used for the tournament but other citizens must pay to watch the matches.

"I urge those who can afford to buy tickets to go and buy them now, the free tickets are targeted at very specific people," said Jordaan. as this will be the first time the World Cup is played on African soil.
